Panic. . .

I don't think I ever really understood the meaning of the word until now! It is so scary to wake suddenly in the middle of the night and start coughing, gasping, "whooping" myself hoarse, desperate for air but unable to breathe. Whooping Cough, I am so over you! I just want to get better now. Please!!

It's usually not so bad during the day. It's just at night when I have these dreadful coughing fits. It is most alarming when I am alone, in the dark. If there's someone with you, you don't tend to panic so much.

School starts today. This year, I hope to remain on speaking terms with my maths book. I will happily read and/or write all day, but when it comes to mathematics. . . *heavy sigh*

I have been enjoying watching the Australian Open. Especially Joe-Wilfried Tsonga. He played magical tennis last year when he made it to the final against Novak Djokovic, but this year he's been even better. Definitely one of the most entertaining players today! But as for the cricket. . . *headhitskeyboard* I have temporarily given up on Australia's cricket team.

I am currently reading Louisa May Alcott's Jack and Jill. From what I have read of it so far, I would have to say it is one of the worst Alcott books I have ever read. It's still pretty good, though! A nice place to escape to - 1880s New England in winter, covered in snow, full of adorable rosy-cheeked little girls and mischievous young boys. I wouldn't mind a bit of wintry weather just now - it's been very hot and humid these last few days. We've spent most of our time inside with the air-conditioner on.

Hope you all have a great week!

.... I can totally understand I am the same way with math, but I am trying to slowly learn to enjoy it. ;)

  6. I hope you feel better, I'll be praying for you. *hug*

I read Jack and Jill a long time ago, there was a poem from it I have hanging on my bedroom wall, but other than that, I'm afraid I've utterly forgotten the story. I can't help but love Alcott though. :-)

~You've been awarded by yours truly!

  7. Aw, poor you!
Hehe, given up hope on the Aussie cricket team? (oh, why am I laughing, us kiwis only just beat Bangladesh last year... oops.)
I totally agree about the math, it's evil I tell you!
Do you get time off school when you are sick? Watching movies is my favourite pastime when I'm sick. :)

  8. Well, on Tuesday, I made a start on my schoolwork, but since then I have been up to doing much. Next week if I'm feeling better I might try to start in earnest.

Yes, I have been watching movies! :-)

Hmmm, New Zealand have arrived in Australia and will play Aus. in a ODI series starting soon. Now that will be interesting. . . :D

  9. wow, bizarre (that's it, one z, 2 r's...), the coughing. I had the same thing for about a week. Wake up in the middle of the night or some time or other, and just basically almost cough your heart out - hmmm, figuratively I think, but it almost feels like that. On my last day of bad coughing, i really panicked when I saw some blood, but it seems to have all gone uphill (to reverse the more commonly used thing) from there, so that's a relief. Anyway, there we go, that should cheer you up hahah get better.

  10. Aww, you poor old thing! I'm glad you're getting better.

I think I've turned the corner - at least, I haven't had any really frightening coughing epsisodes for a few days. I've been sleeping sitting up in a lounge chair at night, and I find that helps a lot.

The rotten thing about whooping cough is it lasts for ages! The other name for whooping cough is "the 100-day cough" - 100 days is, of course, over 3 months. . .
