So poignant, and brilliantly written.

You could always read OMF or LD online, I guess. . . but I generally prefer "real" books, especially if it's something as long as a Dickens novel, LOL.

Jane Eyre is positively buoyant and light-hearted when compared with Wuthering Heights!! :P

Well. . . it isn't exactly what we'll be doing for Christmas (we'll be having a quiet Christmas at home - no beach or BBQ or big family gathering) - but yes, it sums up the essence of the Australian Christmas quite well!

I would LOVE to experience snow!! I just finishe...I've been enjoying Dickens too! I just finished reading 'A Christmas Carol' for myself for the first time after years of watching movie adaptations and take-offs and listening to radio dramas. It's even better than all of those and I just bawled when Tiny Tim dies and shed tears of job when Ebenezer is reformed! Dickens is so funny and poignant! I really want to read 'Our Mutual Friend' or 'Little Dorrit' but might have to content myself with 'David Copperfield' or 'Oliver Twist' which I know my parents have copies of. I'm also reading 'Jane Eyr'e and am rememinded how depressing but good it is!

Is that what Christmas is like for you Aussies!...I've always wondered...haha ;)
I can't believe Christmas it so soon either! We got snow today and are expecting more tomorrow. I love having white Christmases but my feet are so cold right now that I'd take some of your warmer weather for an hour or two! Send some my way, will you? ;)

Hope you and your family have a very blessed and Merry Christmas! *hugs*

~Miss Laurie
Old-Fashioned CharmMiss Lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00973247921599001493noreply@blogger.com
