Attention all period drama fanatics. . .

Daniel Deronda. . . BBC period drama at its best. . .

. . .you MUST check out this forum! I only just found it today, via a link at www.CharitysPlace.com. Have a look around, and register if you think you'd be at all interested. They have recently started a monthly period drama webzine, with various interesting articles included. This month's edition featured a very interesting article on Lorna Doone 2000 - very timely for me, LOL! (See yesterday's post below.)

Anyways, just thought I'd let you all know about it. I hope to see some of you there soon! I know a lot of you are big fans of costume drama, like myself. :-)

I've probably asked you this before...but I can't remember what the answer was so: Have you ever seen Bleak House? It's based on the Charles Dickens (My favorite author :)) book. It's like 8 hours long and it stars Gillian Anderson from the X-Files. It's one of my favorite books/movies.

No, I haven't seen it, though I've heard so much about it, I really must watch it sometime. Do recommend that I watch the movie or read the book first? I know they usually say to read the book first, but sometimes, if a movie is really good, it's kind of nice not knowing how the story goes. It makes it all a surprise. :-)

LOL, okay, I'll do my best to watch it soon!! And I will be sure to let you know what I think of it after I've watched it. :-)

Daniel Deronda is one of the most impressive BBC productions I have seen. To answer your question, yes, it is definitely worth watching! It's worth watching for the costumes alone. They are absolutely stunning. The gorgeous soundtrack, the beautiful filming locations in England and the Mediteranean, brilliant acting. . .

The story does deal with some pretty heavy topics - it may not be the kind of movie you'd want to watch over and over again. I would suggest that you watch it before buying it.

I thoroughly enjoyed it - it has become one of my favourites. :-)

Word verification: toxyl. What a cool word! :P

Um, I read the book fist but didn't really understand it (This was several years ago ;)) but I then watched the movie and got to see how it all came together. They stick very close to what the book said in the movie, so you can do either ;)

Okay - well, I might watch the tv series and then maybe read the book sometime. I'll see how I go.
