Deborah Drapper

Hey everyone. . . sorry for the delay in posting. . . 

Have a look at this documentary, aired in the UK a couple of weeks ago. It's about 13-year-old Deborah Drapper - one of eleven children, living with her family on their farm in Dorset, England. They homeschool. Deborah is passionate about God and telling others about Him. She shows incredible courage when witnessing to others about Jesus - I felt very challenged after watching this!

A lot of Christians have been saying that Deborah seems to be lacking in the "joy of the Lord" - but people, please bear in mind that the BBC captured over 100 hours of footage to make this 1 hour documentary! They would have ruthlessly edited the footage to make Deborah and her family appear as "weird" and religious and joyless as possible. This is disappointing, but it is only to be expected, I suppose - especially from the BBC.

To get a more rounded picture of Deborah's life, you might want to have a look at her blog. She's just an ordinary 13-year-old girl who loves God and loves her family.

Please pray

I'm sure most of you have heard about the bushfires that have ravaged Victoria. I can't think of words to describe how horrific this is - there are no words. Watching the news on tv is so distressing, so painful. Hearing stories of tragedy, seeing pictures of this hellish disaster zone. . . it's feared that over 200 people have been killed, and many hundreds have lost their homes.

I don't know what else we can do right now but pray - please pray.

Here's another update on the bill currently being passed in the Victorian Parliament.

Abortions to be made legal in Victoria: Update

The bill that I mentioned earlier is set to be introduced to the Victorian parliament today. Politicians will take a conscience vote on the issue. Read more in this article.

This interview riled me a bit. "Leaving it [abortion] in the criminal code means that somehow when you do this it's wrong … and I think these things should be out in the open and people should not be judged," - going by this, perhaps speeding should be allowed. Of course car accidents kill, but people are going to speed anyway, so why not just make it legal. (!!?) Don't you see the fallibility in this logic? Making something legal doesn't make it right. Thank goodness God, not politicians, decides what's right and what's wrong.  

I found this article in the Herald Sun interesting. The writer, Mirko Bagaric, states her case well. If you scroll down the page you'll find some very caustic comments, attacking Bagaric for daring to suggest that a "foetus" is a baby, but there are also quite a few defending her pro-life stance.

Abortions to be made legal in Victoria

I stumbled across this article while browsing through the news this morning.

There's a new bill about to be introduced to the state parliament of Victoria. Under this new bill, women would have the right have an abortion during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. Previously, abortion was only legal if a doctor certified that the pregnancy was a genuine threat to the woman's health. If this legislation is passed, a woman would only have to give her consent in order to have an abortion, at least up until the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.

Please pray about this.
