Pride and Prejudice poll results

The results are in! Thankyou everyone for voting!

~~~~~
P&P 2005 - 41 votes, 38% of total
P&P 1995 - 59 votes, 55%
P&P 1980 - 2 votes, 1%
P&P 1940 - 4 votes, 3%
It comes as no surprise that the BBC's 1995 adaptation reigns as the most popular version of Jane Austen's novel. In the end, though, the results were a good deal closer than I expected. For most of the time the poll was open, P&P '95 had about twice as many votes as the 2005 version. Just in the last few days, however, there have been a lot of votes for P&P '05, bringing it within 18 votes of P&P '95.
Once again, a big thanks to everyone who voted in this poll! This was such fun. In fact, I think think there'll be a new poll coming soon. . . any suggestions or ideas for a new poll?
YAY POLLS! Heheh. It seems like the BBC version of P&P was closer to the book than the more recent one. I think the more recent one weighed to heavily on fancy camerawork and nice scenery. Not that that's a bad thing, but when you've got a story as good as P&P, you want to take in all that you can of the plot ;)
Uhhh, I dunno about new polls. Maybe umm...ummmmm..uh...
Okay, I got nothing ;)
Yeah, even through all this hype about Matthew Macfadyen and even Elliot Cowan giving other Darcy's a run for their money Colin Firth still reigns supreme in most fan girl's minds as the image of Darcy.
But the biggest reason it came out on top is probably that P&P 1995 is just a great long, beautiful, complete adaptation. :)
Other polls, how about an S&S movie poll, since S&S is one of your favorites? Or what about a Jane Eyre adaptation poll, there certainly are enough of those!
Thanks it was fun to see the results of this! ;)
Though the '05 version was the first one I saw,the '95 one is my favourite.With it's greater length it can show much more of the story.
I agree with Laurie that you could do a poll on Sense and Sensibility as there are some good versions to choose from.
Was wondering if you have been able to read "The Inheritance" by L M Alcott?
Yes, Robert, I read it a few months ago! You can read my review here:
I love the BBC P&P! I saw the 1940 version first, actually, and loved it. Then I saw the 2005 version. Loved it, but was (am) still strongly attatched to the 1940 version (I love Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier). THEN I saw the 1995 version, and it won. All of the actors/actresses were wonderful, but Mr. Darcy was the best. Colin Firth didn't just play Mr. Darcy, he WAS Mr. Darcy. He fitted perfectly the image I had of him from the book that wasn't right in the others. And Mr. Bingley, and Elizabeth, too. I could go on and on, but I won't. ;) I'll stop while I can.
