Such a list makes me happy as I spot period dramas I have yet to watch. I'm always afraid I'll reach the end of the list and then be left with nothing substantial to enjoy. An irrational fear I know, but still...

Oh and thanks for your nice comment, on my blog Elise! I was surprised and happy to see it, I've been a reader of your lovely blog for about a month now, and I really enjoy it.

Thanks for your kindness to an upstart newbie blogger such as myself.
Much blessings,
Marie

Marie, I sometimes feel the same way - afraid that I'm beginning to run out of really good, wholesome costume dramas to watch! But there are a couple on that list which are meant to be very good (like The Barchester Chronicles and Middlemarch) that I still haven't seen yet! So there's always something more to look forward to. :-)

You know, it wasn't so very long ago that I was a newbie blogger! I love your blog - we have a lot of common interests! - and your posts are fun and well-written. I'm sure you'll develop quite a readership in no time! :-)

Since I have never seen it, what was so depressing about Clarissa?

Umm. . . long story! (Literally, LOL - Clarissa was the longest novel ever published in the English language!) The story is very depressing, and the whole series was incredibly claustrophobic. Actually, that's probably bad English - it was very claustrophobia-inducing!

You can read the plotline here at Wikipedia.
